ABOUT ME or how I stayed in the school for 16 years and built a career out of confusing other people…
I was born in the summer of 1990 to parents who are both teachers, Literature and Mathematics. My father claims he made up my name. I still don’t believe him.
I have always been into creativity. I wrote my first song “Detective” when I was about 4-5. It was amazing terrible. Yet it was a hit in the family, until my little sister came up with “Fat Baby” at the age of 2. Anyway, I write better songs now.
I was mesmerized by cinema. I have to make my own films, I thought. “Killing Hercules” was my first. I was 16. Then I made ten more shorts.
Studied Business Administration in Hacettepe University only to find out that suits wouldn’t suit me… Good old Ankara days; cold weather though. Graduated in 2012.
Then, I thought why don’t I combine this creative thinking ability with my cognitive marketing skills? F#*k yeah! Duh! So, I did.
Grabbed my luggage and came to Istanbul. It was a September morning, 06.15 a.m. Raining. I got wet. Then I changed my clothes and got myself an internship job as a Copywriter in C-Section, Turkey’s leading digital advertising agency.
And the rest is ideas, projects, awards, a new Woody Allen film every year, a new Radiohead record every 4-5 years (really Thom?), a bottle of German wheat beer every now and then, continuous work on my forehand every week, takeaway Chinese food every Thursday and hunt for better marketing solutions and creative ideas every day.
I will quit when I lose my curiosity. I’m curious when I’ll lose my curiosity. And that makes me curious.
